El Día de los Muertos, the Day of the Dead, provides a way for people to embrace the wondrousness of life and to welcome the spirits of the dead. Intricate, traditional altars and sophisticated, complex art installations are on display in this year’s Day of the Dead exhibition at the SomArts Cultural Center in San Francisco. The display, The Light of the Heart for the Shadow of the Soul, runs from Saturday, October 14 through Saturday, November 4 at SomArts Cultural Center, 934 Brannan Street (between 8th and 9th Streets), San Francisco. The exhibition is curated by Rene Yañez and can be seen from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Special docent led tours are available for classrooms to view the more than 50 art works in the exhibit. |
